Meta’s Threads Surpasses 150 Million Sign-ups: A New Era in Micro-blogging | Tricity News Hub

Meta’s latest venture, Threads, has outshone its competitors, surpassing 150 million sign-ups within a week of its launch, a milestone once held by Niantic’s Pokémon GO in 2016. In a whirlwind of events, Threads, a rival to Twitter, broke several records, despite a decline in usage post its launch. This exclusive coverage by Tricity News Hub explores this tech phenomenon.

Threads, unleashed on July 5th for iOS and Android users across 100 countries, swiftly ascended to the number one spot among free apps on the App Store. According to Data.ai, Threads’ remarkable achievement of 150 million user sign-ups just seven days post-launch is a testament to its instant appeal and user-friendly interface.

The geography of its popularity is intriguing. India emerged as the leading market for Threads, contributing approximately 32% of its total downloads. Brazil followed closely with about 22%, with the United States contributing nearly 16%. The top five were rounded off by Mexico and Japan, accounting for 8% and 5% of downloads, respectively.

The initial response to Threads was phenomenal, raking in 2 million sign-ups just two hours post-launch. This trend continued, with Threads surpassing 30 million sign-ups within 12 hours. Despite a subsequent usage decline, the staggering number of sign-ups reflects the initial popularity and user interest in the app.

Threads swiftly became a top free app on the App Store by July 10. As a micro-blogging platform linked to Instagram, it saw an astounding 100 million sign-ups in just five days post-launch. Meta’s head, Mark Zuckerberg, attributed this monumental achievement to organic demand.
